Business Person of the Week: Folorunsho Alakija: The Influential Woman

Folorunsho Alakija is the richest woman in Nigeria and one of the richest businesswoman. Notable for her prowess in the African business sector.

Born on the 15 of July 1951, Folorunsho had her secondary education in Shagamu, Ogun state. She also attended Pitman’s College London where she was trained in Secretarial Studies. She later studied Fashion Design at the American College and the Central School of Fashion both in London. An administrator and banker before venturing into business.

Folorunsho Alakija’s business spans across the oil&gas, real estate, printing, and fashion&designing sectors.  She is the managing director of The Rose of Sharon Group which consists of The Rose of Sharon Prints & Promotions Limited, Digital Reality Prints Limited. She is also the executive vice-chairman of Famfa Oil Limited, with a majority stake in DaySpring Property Development company.

Folorunsho Alakija is currently listed as the 19th richest person in Africa by Forbes, with a net worth of $1 billion.
