If you’re absolutely new to work-from-home pattern of work because of the pandemic, there are a few things that would require change in order to make work from home a success. Check out these tips to ensure productivity:
- Maintain regular hours
Create a schedule for your working hours and stick to it. When you have clear guidelines on when to work and what to achieve during a day, it all becomes easier. You can certainly be flexible with the schedule, if required. But make sure to fix it the next day as not to end up being unproductive. The greatest advantage of keeping regular workhours is to attain a healthy work-life balance.
- Take breaks and take them in their entirety
This is the most important element when working from home (WFH). Just because you are in your space, doesn’t mean you over-work. Taking breaks really improves productivity and keeps you charged up to keep working. Breaks could be something as simple as taking a 10-min walk doing some yoga and meditation. Keeping a break schedule can help you manage your time wisely. However, remember to keep a safe distance from others when you are out of the house.
- Keep a dedicated home-office or working space
It’s like coming to work, sitting down in this own space of yours tells your brain it’s time to focus and get work done. Make it pleasing to look at with some plants and frames to not bore you out. But also remember to stay away from this place when you are off work.
- Look for training opportunities
A great way to keep learning when not at the office is to look for training opportunities. You might heavily miss out on training skills that are taught at the office. Sometimes, the company might not have provided online-training programs, make sure you mention that. You could even look for any other type of online, in-person or coaching you need to keep growing.
- Communicate and be heard/seen
You probably already have Facetime or Zoom. So, you certainly have video conferences and meetings. Attending optional meetings is a good idea, too. Make sure you speak up during the meetings at least a couple of times, so that people know you’re really there. Even during the closing, just a “Thanks, everyone. Have a good day.” can go a long way without you realizing it.
- Socialize with colleagues
During this remote work life, loneliness, isolation, and anxiety are common problems. To keep yourself involved, join the office chat room to engage with associates and talk about things outside work. Companies usually offer ways to socialize, if not focus on nurturing your relationships with your fellow workers.
Finally, believe in your abilities to adapt and find the right balance in the work-from-home lifestyle. Do pat yourself for every achievement and reward yourself to stay motivated and get through this time.
